gMum Lisa shared with us some photos of a one-of-a-kind party she threw for her kiddos. We had to know more. She gladly obliged. Thank you, Lisa. Now we’re super curious: how do you celebrate milestones? And what the heck is a milestone, anyway? Let us know in a comment.
Ok, about the potty party… I guess i should start back in March of 2011. My daughter Merry was 4 (soon to be 5), Hezekiah turned 3 on March 12, David was 19 months old, and Gideon was born (2 weeks late!) on March 16. With Gideon’s birth we had 3 in full time diapers! I had hoped to have Hezekiah potty trained before then but he was no where near ready!! David was showing more readiness for potty training than his big brother!
A couple of years ago, 3 to be exact, we received this email:
“I have many pictures of my child in Gs, but this one was so classic I mailed it to the only address I could find for you guys – I figure you can pass it on if you find it as funny as I did.
Perhaps Gs have a soporific effect?
Today we asked this on our facebook page:
As a parent, we are given a set of choices for a variety of situations and circumstances. What situations and circumstances have you faced where the choices at hand just didn’t seem enough and you opted for something different? When have gone against the grain?
And there were so many great stories that parents shared. Diana shared hers, originally posted on her blog, and gave permission for us to share here. Why would we want to do this? We believe in people. People who do what they do because they see a better alternative and act on it. Whether it be choosing a diaper or something much much bigger. Something that may go against the grain and buck the status quo. Because sometimes g stands for going with your gut.
This was posted on our facebook page today, and, well shoot, there are 18 pairs of eyes here at gHQ that are a little teary right now. We make a cool product. We 100% believe that to be true. But what we believe in 150% (at least) is the power of genuine human interaction. Mom to mom. Mom to Dad. Dad to Dad. Parent to Parent. Baby to Baby. People to People. The stories that sprout from our connection are what will send this world spinning on a most beautiful and inspiring course toward being greater than we could have ever imagined.
If you’ve been around the gCommunity for any length of time, you’ve for certain been witness to the beautiful family photos shared by gMum, Makenzie. When we pulled together a year-end slideshow of the gBabies who had been posted to our facebook page in 2011, it was hard to not be wowed by the story of Makenzie and her family, as told through the photos she chose to share. We asked her to pick just a handful of her favorites that we could post here on the bloggidy blog. No easy feat, for sure. Thank you to Makenzie and her family for allowing us a peek into her world. Because though we’re all on the same planet, we all have different worlds. And they are all worth celebrating.
Hipcooks had us down for a “team-building event”. The truth is, this team was built by an exhaustive and thorough hiring process, to find the people that have that spot-on mix of crazy rad talent, quirk and ability to adapt and innovate. BUT! as we’ve learned in the past with such endeavors as bouncing on trampolines, dressing up as the griswolds, choreographing a dance routine and cleaning up bicycles, a “team-building event” can be simply re-defined as “bringing back the sticky to our glue”. Or something like that. Working title.
